2024 Travel Highlights include a Father Son overnight rafting trip on the North Platte River. The Northeast with stops in Michigan, Acadia National Park, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
Rafting North Platte River, Wyoming, Colorado Springs Family time
Michigan – Canada Time with Karen & Bob, Paul and Mari Ann, and Leslie and Walt. Spent some time in Traverse City and Munising at the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Drove across Canada on the way to Acadia National Park.
Acadia -Bar Harbor was as beautiful as you would imagine. In Bar Harbor walked to Bar Harbor Island when the tide was out. The island is not approachable by foot from the city.
Nova Scotia – An incredibly beautiful island with stops in Whycocomagh Bay, which was my gateway to the Cabot Trail on New Breton Island. Additional stops included Peggy’s Cove, Halifax and the Bay of Fundy. Rafting the Tidal Bore was quite exciting.
Prince Edward Island reminded me of Michigan as it is mainly farming community, no easy access to the water but the West end and East end both had lighthouses.
Heading home – A wonderful trip ended with stops in Old Orchard Beach, Peekskill, NY, Gettysburg, Santee Somerton and St. Mary’s. The weather was pleasant all along the way. Temperatures in the mid 70’s and low 50’s most days. A few mornings the heat was needed.
